Automatic Driving Lessons for Hurstpierpoint, Sayers Common and Albourne

Automatic Driving School Burgess Hill teaches one-to-one automatic driving lessons for learners in Hurstpierpoint, Sayers Common and Albourne. We are an automatic-only driving school, so every lesson is taught in an automatic car.

Hurstpierpoint is a village in Mid Sussex, West Sussex, about 4 miles south-west of Burgess Hill and 1.5 miles west of Hassocks station. It stands on a sandstone ridge, with the South Downs to the south. The A23 is close by, the A273 runs near the village, and the B2116 follows the ridge from Hurstpierpoint towards Ditchling.

Sayers Common is about two miles north-west of Hurstpierpoint and shares its civil parish, called Hurstpierpoint and Sayers Common. The village used to stand on the main A23 and is now partly bypassed by it. Albourne is a separate village and civil parish just off the A23.

Our lessons suit complete beginners, new drivers, adult learners and nervous drivers. If you have already passed, we also offer refresher lessons and Pass Plus.

The kind of driving you will practise

Learning to Drive in and Around Hurstpierpoint

The roads you meet depend on where your lessons start and how far you have progressed. This is a general guide to the types of driving learners practise. It does not describe particular roads we use, or any driving test route.

01

Quiet residential streets

Most learners begin on quiet roads, where you can get used to the controls of an automatic car, steering, moving off, stopping and observation before busier traffic.

02

Junctions and roundabouts

As your confidence grows, lessons move on to junctions, roundabouts and traffic-light-controlled crossings, with a focus on observation, positioning and judging gaps in traffic.

03

Village, ridge and country roads

Around a village like Hurstpierpoint you can expect village streets and rural roads. We help you with road positioning, passing parked cars, meeting oncoming traffic and choosing a safe speed. When you are ready, lessons can include faster roads.

04

Parking, manoeuvres and independent driving

We practise parking, turning in the road and reversing, and independent driving such as following road signs or directions, as you work towards test standard.

Lessons for every stage

Automatic Lessons for Beginners, Returning Drivers and New Drivers

Every lesson is taught in an automatic car by a qualified instructor, one to one.

01

One-to-One Automatic Lessons

Every lesson is just you and your instructor, so the lesson follows your pace. With an automatic car there is no clutch or gear changing, which lets you concentrate on observation, hazard awareness and road positioning.

02

Refresher Driving Lessons

If you have passed but want to rebuild your confidence, or you are changing from a manual car to an automatic, refresher lessons can focus on the skills you want to practise. See our refresher lessons page.

03

Pass Plus

Pass Plus is further training for newly qualified drivers. Find out more on our Pass Plus course page.
