How Often Should You Have Driving Lessons?

Planning3 min read17 Oct 2026

One of the most common questions is how often to have driving lessons. The honest answer is that it depends on you.

Things that can affect your plan include:

  • Your experience. A complete beginner may want a different pattern from someone returning after a break.
  • Your availability. Work, study and family commitments all play a part.
  • Your budget. Our standard price is £42 per hour, or £80 for a two-hour lesson, so you can plan ahead. See our prices page.
  • How you learn. Some learners like regular, frequent lessons to keep skills fresh, while others prefer more time between lessons to practise.

A steady routine often helps you remember what you learned from one lesson to the next. Talk to your instructor about what suits you, and you can adjust the plan as you progress.
